I grew up in a small town in Louisiana, and have always had an interest in art - mostly painting and drawing, but anything creative, really. It all began with one simple jewelry-making kit, and a "How to Make Jewelry" book that my brother gave me as a gift. I had no clue what I was doing or how to do it but throughout the years, I managed to teach myself how to make jewelry. I wouldn't say that the pieces were necessarily "buyable," but with support from my family and friends, my jewelry skills progressed.
After high school, I decided to begin my journey into the fashion world. I moved to Dallas in 2006 to get a taste of "the big city." I enrolled in fashion school and 2 long years later, I graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising. After school I worked for several companies, designing jewelry. It was the best feeling in the world to walk into department stores and see the jewelry that I made hanging on the shelf! Those jobs taught me more about jewelry than I can express, and I am extremely grateful for those opportunities.
From there, I decided to stretch my jewelry-making creativity to the next level and here I am today, doing my best to share my unique jewelry and accessories with the world. The name Valois - French pronunciation [Val-Wa] - is my Grandparents’ last name and my Mother's maiden name. My family has inspired me to be who I am today, so I thought that honoring their name would be a perfect way to begin my future!
Anything is possible if you have faith.
Unique. Handmade. One of a Kind. That's me!
