LEEAUX Surreal pen illustrator. I grew up with a passion for the arts. In 2016 I relocated to New Orleans, LA to begin my professional art career. Age: 25 From: Shreveport, LA | instagram | web | facebook | Hello, my name is Leeaux. I am 25 and I currently live in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 2014 I decided that I wanted to only make my way by selling my artwork. I had a feeling that I would grow beyond what I initially thought was possible as an artist. Almost everyday has been pen in hand.

Describe your art in three words. Surreal. Line. Dark.
Describe yourself in one word. Inspirational.
What do you love the most about creating art in New Orleans? What particular part of your immediate environment, in your neighborhood specifically influences your work? The fact that this is it. It's either create or be destroyed. I love New Orleans because everyone is making and creating and becoming a master at their art to better themselves and to put food on the table. I am one of those masters.
Describe your creative process. Are there any rituals or rites of passage you exercise before you begin a new piece? Actually yes. I like to zone into my mind and reach a certain static. When I am in my zone I am capable of drawing anything. A lot of my pieces are poetic and have much deeper meanings. Memories of my past influence me. I tap into this. This is a very sensitive topic, I'm glad you asked.
Where do you draw inspiration? Real life experiences around me. My previous life. Wanting to become better. The universe and how infinite we are.
Who are your artistic influences or gurus? James Jean - Myself -
In New Orleans, art and music go hand in hand. What type of music, band or song lyric best describes your work? My work is heavily influenced by musicians and producers like Clams Casino, Flume, Silent Planet, Albert B, Modest Mouse, and many more. Music is my medicine. You know that phrase, music soothes the savage beast or something like that?
Where can we find you when you are not creating art? Probably working with the arts and music collective Portculture or sleeping. I like to adventure too. Life is my medicine.
What is your favorite time of day/day of the week/month of the year? Favorite time of day is morning. I am a morning person. Being able to wake up is a blessing within itself. Wednesday is my favorite day of the week. A ton of fun things always happens on these days. August is my favorite month of the year. I kind of enjoy March as well.
What is something people don’t know about you? A fun fact. I have had a passion for aesthetics since I started using the internet. Since I was active on Myspace I was aware of my persona. I was exposed to culture from over seas and that kind of fueled my imagination. I also made comic books in detention when I was in middle school and high school because art was my life.
