Follow this artistI am a lens-based artist who has been working in the still photography medium since 2002. All of my creative work strives to document the culture of Gulf Coast Louisiana with a specific focus on New Orleans and Acadiana. I practice antiquated photography processes of the 19th and 20th century as I feel it resonates with the subject matter.
I was born in Iberia Parish and now reside in New Orleans, La working as a full-time artist. For me, visual arts came slowly; I discovered photography late in my college career and quickly got a minor. I further advanced my education by working in various art galleries, volunteering with the New Orleans Photo Alliance and freelancing for many years.
All of my bodies of work fall under one main Project titled "Mais Yeah/Yeah Ya Right" which has many different approaches, all of which try to render a sense of place to Gulf Coast Louisiana, explore the idea of home and mine the breakdown of autobiographical memories in the Cajun culture.
Recent accomplishments include the curation and creation of The Stephens Garage Photographic Collection, exhibited at NOCCA Gallery in November 2018. Also in early 2018, I was invited to create an outdoor walk-in Camera Obscura for the Mobile Museum of Art’s “DO IT” exhibition. This piece demonstrated how photography works and was used for educational purposes by many surrounding art schools. Collection highlights include The Ogden Museum of Southern Art, The Wisznia Collection and The Capital One Collection.
