Daren Sumrow

Artist + Daren Sumrow

Dad. Hubby. Veteran. Son. Designer. Builder. Believer of humanity. I started woodworking with my parents as a kid in Northern California. My dad did some projects around our house and taught me the basics of building, but my mom was the crafty, artistic one. She was a banker by day and a seamstress/painter/chef/biker after hours. She enlisted me to build some wooden things for her craft business. I was 14 then, and now after all their guidance, 6 years in the U.S. Navy, 2 tours cross-country on my motorcycles (more soon to come), 2 awesome sons, and a wife who inspires me to do my best everyday (and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think she's the real brains of this whole operation), I am still passionate about this ancient art/science of woodworking. New Orleans is where I've called home since July of 1997 and love it or hate it, this is home!

Daren Sumrow is a New Orleans artist living and working in the Uptown neighborhood.
