More commonly referred to as Okra, Ladies' Fingers are a must have in many creole dishes, and I decided to go with a Mardi Gras theme for this painting. In capturing the drag queen spirit, I wanted the figure to project a certain confidence. Not everyone will like okra, but that doesn't stop her from growing anyway. All the same, we shouldn't stop being who we are just because someone doesn't like it. This painting represents being true to oneself and to keep doing what brings us joy despite the naysayers.
