Follow this artistI am a native New Orleanian living and working in the city. I am a graduate of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and received my BFA from The University of New Orleans. In addition to painting I also create drawings and have a line of hand drawn silk clothing.
My paintings are vibrant and colorful, veiling subject matter that can be dark or uncomfortable. My work is distinctly southern, including bright azaleas, giant palm fronds, and banana leaves. My paintings begin as gestural acrylic paintings, building towards thick areas of decidedly placed oil paint, glitter, or gold leaf. I use my closest relationships as a point of departure, collaging together photos and drawings to create my composition. These collaged situations transform into surreal southern landscapes.
